CHPC has applied its innovative Making Neighborhoods demographic analysis model to the New York metropolitan region. Using clustering techniques to analyze federal decennial census data, we are able to create this stunning interactive tool that allows users to see how demographics changed in our region from 2000 to 2010.
Users can toggle between 2000 and 2010 to observe the changes that occurred. By clicking on any part of the region, users can populate the data box on the screen with the demographic information about each of the 16 population clusters that emerged from our analysis.
You can explore the interactive regional Making Neighborhoods map here. The map is accompanied by a policy brief available here.
CHPC thanks its Making Neighborhoods funder, The New York Community Trust, and the designer of the interactive map, VanDam Media.
