It is with deep sadness that CHPC notes the passing of Marian Sameth. Marian served CHPC for over 60 yearsas Associate Director beginning in 1946 and, since 2000, as a Board member.
Marian joined CHPC in its tenth year and shaped its mission and work, leaving behind an impact that will remain palpable for future generations. Long-time CHPC Executive Director Roger Starr recognized that Marian was the person at the helm behind the scenes of the organization.
Our extensive archive, named in her honor, provides insight to our work and the research of countless others on the subjects of New York Citys housing, land use, and development. Anyone who uses our archive has read Marians meticulous hand-written meeting minutes, marginal edits on memos, and notes that add context to the primary documents it contains.

CHPC will sincerely miss Marians warmth and passion for our work and for our city. We are grateful for her legacy and will carry it forward in her memory.
