In the ongoing search for new housing in a cramped city with a growing population, Mayor Bill de Blasio is looking down on New Yorkers.
With the continued search for new housing in New York City, the mayor unveiled an experimental program in East New York, Brooklyn to legalize basements. A report published last year from CHPC concluded that there are approximately 38,000 apartments that could be legalized without any changes to the zoning resolution.
