On May 22, 2008 CHPC brought together hundreds of people from across the housing, planning, and community development world in New York City—and beyond—at its 49th Annual Luncheon.

Denise Scott, Managing Director of LISC, received our Impact Award for Excellence in Housing for the influence of her lifetime of work on housing throughout the City. Don Capoccia accepted our Impact Award for Excellence in Planning on behalf of the Schaefer Landing development team for their contribution to the revitalization of the Brooklyn waterfront. The Ibo Balton Community Planner Award went to Brian Cheigh, Deputy Director for Housing Development at HPD.

We were pleased to honor NYC’s previous Commissioner of the Department of Buildings, Patricia Lancaster with our Roger Starr Public Service Award, and we gave a special recognition award to Marian Sameth for her six decades of service to CHPC.

Our keynote speaker was Rick Lazio, Managing Director at JP Morgan Chase and former Congressman representing New York’s 2nd District. He delivered an illuminating address regarding the potential impacts of the financial market turmoil on housing and community development.
