When CHPC formed in 1937, its visionary leaders intended to develop a practical program to improve our City’s housing and neighborhoods—especially for low-income families. One of our earliest accomplishments resulted in a State constitutional amendment to allow the State to make loans and municipalities to incur debt to construct and operate low-income housing, a key resource for housing to this day. From fighting for racially and economically integrated housing in the earliest days of public housing, to reshaping the housing stock for our changing population through our ground-breaking Making Room approach, we continue to bring together divergent points of view and provide critical public information and education.

For eight decades, our Board has provided inspirational leadership and expertise to improve our City’s housing and neighborhoods.

Please join us to celebrate their legacy, remember their contributions to our City, and recognize those today who are working to improve our future.

Thursday April 20th 11:30am – 2:00pm New York Marriott Marquis at Times Square
