On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, CHPC launched its Making Neighborhoods project, which follows change across the city by putting people at the center of analysis. Our work measures and visualizes the movements of groups of New Yorkers who share demographic characteristics.
The project uses cluster analysis methodology–common in economic or marketing studies–to identify 14 distinct demographic groups, or “population clusters,” in 2000 and follow their locations in 2010. German Marshall Fund Fellows visit CHPC
On November 3rd we had the pleasure of hosting a group of over 20 Marshall Memorial Fellows from the German Marshall Fund for a presentation of CHPC’s Making Room initiative and a preview of our Making Neighborhoods initiative, which will be launched November 5th. The visitors hailed from 17 European countries and included public officials as well as business and non-profit leaders who are visiting cities across the US to learn about public policy interventions on this side of the Atlantic.

Green Building Roundtable: Sustainable Innovation
Last Tuesday, in partnership with Enterprise Community Partners, CHPC hosted a roundtable focusing on the demographic of small to mid size building owners. In our report, All Buildings Great and Small, we discovered that this group of building owners often does not take advantage of programs aimed at creating more sustainable housing stock.
