Exclusive Brooklyn Bridge Park tour
Brooklyn Bridge Park is an 85-acre park currently under construction on the Brooklyn waterfront in the vicinity of the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges. As part of our summer site visits for CHPC board members and guests, we organized an exclusive tour of the new Brooklyn Bridge Park, before it was opened to the public. Regina Myer, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Development Corporation president showed us all of the new parts of the park and gave us the latest inside news on the financing options to guarantee its future.
Freshkills Landfill Tour August 2010
In the summer, CHPC organizes a number of exclusive site visits for our Board Members and other special supporters.In August 2010, we organized a trip to Staten Island for a look at the emerging Freshkills Park.

One Size Fits Some Symposium
In September 2009, CHPC held a unique symposium at the Japan Society of New York which set the stage for Making Room.
Six housing design and planning experts from Tokyo, Barcelona, Leipzig, Montreal and San Diego came to New York City to share their expertise, experience, and insight into designing and planning compact, shared, and flexible housing that better reflect the real needs of our 21st Century households. Capsys Tour July 2009
As part of CHPC’s exclusive summer site visits for board members, we organized a behind-the-scenes tour of Capsys, the premier modular manufacturer specializing in non-combustible buildings located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Annual Luncheon 2008
On May 22, 2008 CHPC brought together hundreds of people from across the housing, planning, and community development world in New York City—and beyond—at its 49th Annual Luncheon.
Denise Scott, Managing Director of LISC, received our Impact Award for Excellence in Housing for the influence of her lifetime of work on housing throughout the City. Don Capoccia accepted our Impact Award for Excellence in Planning on behalf of the Schaefer Landing development team for their contribution to the revitalization of the Brooklyn waterfront. Annual Luncheon 2007
On May 24th, 2007, CHPC hosted its 70th Anniversary Luncheon. Nearly 800 of New York’s real estate, affordable housing, and community development professionals enjoyed the opportunity to network with colleagues, and honor some of the leaders in the industry.
This year CHPC, along with Harlem Congregations for Community Improvement, instituted the Ibo Balton Community Planner Award. The inaugural recipient was Michael Polo, Director of Queens and Staten Island Planning for the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
