CHPC Holds Summer Movie Night
CHPC held its first ever Night at the Movies on Thursday, August 11, 2016. Donald Albrecht, curator of architecture and design at the Museum of the City of New York, joined CHPC Executive Director Jerilyn Perine to discuss the role and relationship of housing to film. Our friends at Resource Furniture hosted the event at their showroom in Midtown Manhattan.
A crowd of roughly 50 gathered at Resource’s lovely space to mingle over wine and movie-theater snacks before the talk began. Albrecht then discussed his two selections of 1930s films: Susan Lenox (Her Fall and Rise) and Bringing Up Baby. Perine followed with a succession of movies that feature New York through distinct periods in its history: Naked City, Edge of the City, and Wolfen. Both discussions were engaging and entertaining, and the crowd had a spirited Q-and-A discussion before the night was out.
Thanks again to Resource Furniture for hosting and providing snacks, and to Donald Albrecht for sharing his love of housing and film!
